Fostering with Springer Rescue of Ontario

The foster approval process:

Applicant completes and submits application form (click here for application)

  1. SRO contacts applicant and conducts telephone interview with applicant.
  2. SRO arranges for a home visit to be completed.
  3. Applicant is advised of approval for joining our foster team. All the information gathered from the first 3 steps of this process will be used to determine suitability. We will notify applicants as quickly as possible once the home visit has been done, and the reports have been submitted to the board. This process could take up to 7 to 10 days depending on availability of board members to review and approve the applicants.

Once approved, SRO will add you to our working list of available foster homes. If the approved foster expresses an interest in a dog coming into our care, SRO will first determine if this foster home is a good match for the dog. SRO will determine the best foster home based on the specific needs of the dog. SRO looks at ALL foster homes each time a new dog is transitioning into our care – and each home will be considered based on their availability and the dog’s specific needs. SRO Case Managers reserve the right to determine suitability of the applicant with respect to the dogs in our care.

If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to email them to                    info @ srontario.org or use the Quick Contact form at the side of this page.
